Somewhere in the back of your mind haven’t you wished you could have one of those coveted “vintage guitars?” I think at one time or another we all have. As the dreaming progresses in your mind, the playability of this imaginary instrument becomes flawless and the tone cuts through well in a live situation while having enough bulk to support big tone. It is playing perfection.
Perfect, until you snap back to reality. Where is it? Where is this flawless instrument of your dreams? Not even a free trip in a time machine can help matters.
But wait…there is such a guitar and it does not require a time machine or an over-inflated price.
The Classic is the vintage guitar of your dreams, and ours, and beyond.
Classic styling with all the right appointments and attention to every last detail so all impediments are gone. What remains is a free-flowing music machine built on a solid foundation of tradition.
With your choice of Alder or Swamp Ash body, an effortlessly playing Maple or Maple/Rosewood neck in any depth, lightening-fast Stainless Steel frets and a myriad of pickups to choose from, you can have The Classic in your favorite form.
Want pure vintage tone? Order with 3 VA-Series Pickups, or for hum-canceling single coil application, select SF-Series or SC-Series pickups.
Pure Vintage output with the ability to thicken things up when the need arises? Add the VA Booster.
What is a VA Booster, you ask? Simple put, it is a color change for the pickup to which it is applied—as if, with the flick of a switch, we rewind your pickup for a little more saturation and oomph while still retaining the same overall character—all passive—no battery needed and no battery to run down.
Gargantuan single coil tone required to bring this style of guitar to life for you? Always had to work too hard to get bigness from a pure vintage guitar—very illusive but you love the tones you hear on record? Look no further than a set of M-Series pickups. It is Stevie Ray and Jimi-tone while tuned to pitch with regular gauge stings. Ms will also do the sweet stuff too.

As the spot light focuses on you and your guitar during the first solo of the night, there is probably nothing quite as stunning as an electric guitar made from beautifully figured maple. Musicians have long appreciated maple for its striking good looks, but some have found it can sound a bit hard and thin. This is because too much hardwood used for the body can limit its resonance and fullness of tone. And if you wanted to retain the comfortable forearm contour, at least half the body had to be maple. Well, of course, we love the look of beautiful maple too, but could never settle for anything but the best tone. That's why in 1991, we introduced the "Drop Top." The Drop Top features a beautiful piece of book matched maple, koa or walnut that is actually bent (or "dropped") over a tonewood back to create the same comfortable forearm contour of our other models. As a result of this design, we've chosen a top thickness of 3/16 of an inch which actually enhances and richens the sonic character of the instrument. The result is a guitar that not only plays effortlessly, is extremely comfortable, and sounds amazing but is so darn good looking that if you don't dress well it just may upstage you. All neck, electronic and bridge options are available.

We are frequently asked, what is Tom's favorite electric guitar. Well, we can definitely assure you that it is an Anderson, but what model? Well, although he loves them all, he would probably choose the Cobra or Hollow Cobra as the guitar that best suits his personal playing style. Developed in the mid 1990s, the Cobra boasts a 24 3/4" scale length. That means a shorter string length from nut to bridge. All other Anderson models feature a 25 1/2" scale length. If you've never heard a Cobra before, some say it's like being hit by a "wall of sound." The tone is beautiful, thick and rich with a concentrated middle. The heart of this "wall of sound" tone not only comes from the shorter string length but from its beautiful maple-topped mahogany body and mahogany/rosewood neck. Although its tone is thick and rich, the Cobra design also enables it to produce a sweet articulation not normally achievable with the shorter scale length. So now whether you're playing live or in the studio you won't find yourself "lost in the mix." Utilizing Drop Top technology, the Cobras are really `comfortable to play. They practically mold themselves to your body. Standard fare on the Cobra is two select pickups of your choice, a 5-way switch and a push/pull switch on the tone knob. The six tonal variations, from rich, full humbuckers to clear, beautiful single coils, are truly surprising from a guitar of this format. Two bridges are available, either fixed or vintage tremolo. The solid body Cobra produces a thicker mid tone, while the Hollow expands the dynamic range of the instrument and slightly softens the mid-range. In addition, we offer the Cobra S-the double cut-away Cobra. This change in body shape does produce a difference in sound. The "S" has a slightly narrowed and more concentrated band width. Whichever one you choose you can rest assured you'll have a guitar that both you and Tom would love to own.
